What is the best way for a director to be able to see each story in order without having to open each one individually? Is the iPad the only way to do that?

    Hey

We have been playing with printing scripts to pdf format. Then open on the pdf on the computer or ipad. Then you scroll back and forth similar to how you use to in EZDirector. That is if you are an old EZNews client. Also buy an adapter for your ipad to go to vga. That way you can have a larger point of view. Let me know what you think of this. Rob

There is one catch to this solution. If scripts change then you will have to output the file again. Rob

    Hi-

I'm coming from iNews, where you can see the rundown and each story script is available by arrowing up or down. I'm currently on a desktop computer with touch screen. How would I get scripts to pdf? I appreciate your help.

    Hi Susanna and Robert -

You can export story scripts to a pdf file using the Print feature. Instead of printing to an actual printer, choose to print to a pdf file.

But I would recommend using the Tablet View on an iPad. This allows you to see a fullscreen view of the story script that is formatted into a 2-column view. You can advance to the next script by swiping on the screen or jump to a specific script by using the dropdown menu at the bottom of the screen.

If you print to a PDF file, Robert is right, the scripts will not reflect any changes or updates made after the stories are printed. Using the Tablet View on an iPad gives you access to the most recent version of the story script as changes made in the running order are automatically pushed to the Tablet View.

You'll need to be using Version 8.1 to have access to the Tablet View on the iPad. I would also highly recommend upgrading to our most recent release, Version 9 if you haven't already.

Adding to this thread my response to a separate email from Robin Estopina, Chief Engoineer at KPVI:

    Hello Robin,

I am the business development manager form Inception.

We have found that the iPad tablets are generally as large as the Android tablets unless you are using an iPad Mini. As far as directing a newscast goes, all of our user stations like the director's for calling the show. If you are referring to producing the show, the stations who produce from the anchor desk like the iPad and Anchor View and the ability to also time the show from the iPad.

The suggestion regarding putting Anchor View on a desktop computer with a touch screen is something that was talked about, however we found that almost all of our customers do not use touchscreens and enjoy the versatility of the keyboard. That is why we added the ability to time the show from the anchor desk with an iPad along with being able to "swipe" to the next story and jump ahead or back.

I don't understand what you mean when you say "all of our user stations like the director's for calling the show". Is there a director's view similar to a tablet view? I am calling and punching the show and running CG and video.
