I am trying to control multiple dashboard clients with a single XML file to centralize parameters. When making an edit on the panel, the value of any updated parameters will sometimes revert back to a previous value. As I understand it, once you click "save and close" in panel builder edit mode, the panel is then rebuilt. Does anyone know how I can either store an updated value to the value that is being defaulted to or a better work around for centralizing parameters? Thank you.

    Hi John,

When you created your custom panel, do you know which template you selected? There's an option called External XML Data Source Panel that will save local parameters to an xml file.

I'm not sure what the process would be for importing that xml file to another computer running DashBoard though.

Hey Nick, Thank you for the reply. Yes, I set them up as an external XML data source and I can link them fine using the data source selector in panel builder edit mode. My issue is more that the parameters stored in the the external XML file keep reverting back to a previous value.

So it turns out that if multiple panels are open with the same XML source, they will overwrite each other based on what panel was last saved. The fix for this is to either purchase a Dashboard Server license or whenever you make a change on one panel, go to the others and close/ reopen or refresh the panel. This will ensure that all the panels XML values are in sync.
