  • 1.  Typing Text in Certain Fields in Inception Disappears

    Posted 08-19-2025 15:20

Does anyone know the reason why, after typing in certain fields like "Camera" or "Director Notes" in Inception, when pressing enter or down arrow, the text disappears and has to be re-typed?

It doesn't always do it, but too often I'll type something long as a Director Note or a camera direction and then I'll have to re-type the whole thing. Sometimes it happens multiple times in a row before finally 'sticking.'

This happens with all of the directors here, not just me.

    Thanks!

    Hi Dave,

That should not be happening and should be reported to tech support so they can investigate.

When reporting, it would be helpful to know what type of custom columns you are specifically seeing problems with (ex: single line string, multi-line string). But tech support can also check this once they're on the system.

Thanks Jenn… either myself or engineering will reach out to tech support.

Out of curiosity, what are single-line string cells vs multi-line string cells?

Are there cells that you can actually have multiple lines in? Like, I know you can if you're pulling info from a script, but can you do it in a cell that you are typing in directly? Like a Shift+Enter or something?

     Thanks!

System administrators can create custom columns for the rundown with a type multi-line string that allow users to type multiple lines in one cell. You use Enter/Return to move to a new line in the cell. In a single line string column, hitting enter/return will commit the change and move to the cell below and text can only wrap to multiple lines.
