Also, if you are trying to get the published data for a different scene that is already on air; you would want to get that scene by getting it from the xpOuputFramebuffer rather than using a GetSceneByName. The xpOutputFramebuffer object can return to you the copy of the scene that is actually online ...

An OnSetText script would get the value of published fields when referencing Self, however you cannot guarantee or control the order the published data gets applied. So it is likely running the OnSetText script that gets data before the other field has had its published data applied. You would be better ...

An OnSetText script on the text object would be the easiest way to remove the last character. A script like this will grab the first two characters and should be all that is required: text = left(text, 2) ------------------------------ Brian Ford Ross Video ------------------------------

Ctrl and Numpad Plus/Minus will adjust the kerning between two invidiual characters while editing a text object in layout mode. But beware, this kerning will be lost if this text object is published to the sequencer; because the text entered into the template data of the sequencer will replace everything ...

Add a pause to the first or second frame of the scene director. Instead of setting the video to be "autostart and freerunning", just drag the video material onto a track on the scene director, and that will cause the video to respect the "pause" on the scene director. When you play the scene through ...

Yes that would be it. You do need a monitor attached; or one of those dongles that emulates a monitor's EDID. ------------------------------ Brian Ford Ross Video ------------------------------

There are a lot more important factors to performance than GPU selection. Output framebuffer card can make a big difference. Best performance can be achieved with Matrox as we can do all the RGB to YUV colorspace conversion on the GPU and send the matrox board YCbCr data rather than RGBA data; so the ...

Is this XPression Designer edition? What type of hardware / gpu are you running this on? Do you get any notifications when starting XPression about failing to initialize the GPU or rendering system? Check in the Edit->Preferences->Hardware menu and make sure it is showing your Nvidia gpu correctly ...

Hi Nick, Contact Tech Support and ask for version 10.0 Build 5276. This should have a fix for the newline issue in it. We don't normally recommend this, but in this case you could probably even run the new datalinq version with your existing 9.5 studio build if for some reason you cant upgrade XPression ...

Hi Nick, To me, this looks like there is a bug in the newline parsing. From what I can see it is only working when a row in the text file does not contain any comma delimiters. This should be solving we could fix quite quickly. Which specific version of datalinq are you running? ------------- ...

Hi Gerard, I cant see any reason why you would need to get the layer first. The xpMaterial.GetShader() should work fine (and it did work fine in my testing when I was writing the above script). If you want to attach or send me a scene without it that doesn't work right I could look further into it. ...

I looked at the PNG files from that site and they are saved as 8bits per pixel. Version 10 and below of XPression require 32 bits per pixel (8bit Red, 8bit Green, 8bit blue, 8bit Alpha). To be honest I've never encountered an 8 bit per pixel PNG before, so these seem pretty rare. However, upcoming ...

A script like this in the OnPrepare method of a scene should work. Note this script assumes all file extensions are 4 characters including the ".". This script really should be improved to better handle other cases (like if someone used a filename with a .jpeg extenion (5 characters). dim mat ...

To add color to primitives (quads, etc), you need to create a material, in the material manager right click and choose New->Material. To add color to a font, you can click the "Edit Material" button in the Scene Fonts tab of the Object Inspector. ------------------------------ Brian Ford Ross ...

If you are putting the scene copy online using .SetOnline, then that does not automatically start playing any scenedirectors, so it may not matter whether you set it back to default or not. Usually when a scene is played from the sequencer, it automatically starts the default scenedirector playing so ...

Hi Jonas, It does look like there is a shortcoming in the video shader not updating its frame position when triggered through a GetRenderedFrame call. However I think I have found a workaround that might work for you. Try doing something like the below. My trick is to change the preview scenedirector ...

You can pass -1 to the position argument of the GetRenderedFrame so that it will not adjust the default scene director. If you want the preview scene director to be adjusted you will need to do that manually. Using the xpScene object you can call GetPreviewSceneDirector to get a handle to whichever scene ...

You'll have to go into the keyboard mapping menu and see what action is assigned to hotkey 10. I'm guessing here, but maybe it is a script that plays a particular scene director in a scene and it may be looking for a scenedirector by name that might not exist in your new scene.. You'll need to give ...
