Short answer yes, if you like scripting and trigonometry (maybe even a little calculus) you can achieve something with the xpAPITextureShader. Long answer: Below is a very experimental script that is attempting to accomplish that. If I'm being honest it's been so long since I did this I can't remember ...

No problem Brian, it's entirely possible I asked this question back in 2016 (I remember it having to do with how we were structuring election data) prior to 6.7 being released! We haven't had a need to use this feature but it's good to know it does exist! #XPression

I believe back in version 7 I asked this question and got the answer that it doesn't, nor have I ever gotten it to work. I don't have a reason to believe that has changed. But you can use multiple datalinq keys within the same source. So if you have the capability to restructure your XML schema, you ...

I'm not sure I follow you, the offset is there because the first condition 0-9 requires it to be true. For what it's worth, you can set your base value directly within the Greater Than/Eq to function block. In my example these values would be 0, 10, 25 respectively. If you have no need for a default ...

Oh yeah, you'll want to click on your input selector and and offset the index to 1. If maybe you had some different conditions where you want your color coding to start at 10 and everything below was a default color (say white or black) then you'd want to have it start at zero and add an additional default ...

Almost there! What's happening here is that as your value trips each GreaterThan/Eq To function block, the resulting bool value is added to your index. Then, you need to feed the materials into the respective index, finding those can be tricky. When you open the fonts pulldown in VL interface ...

Well first you're going to call or compose an email to any former math teachers (specifically a calculus teacher) and apologize for ever thinking "when will I ever use this math!" About a year ago we were exploring the uses of the Draw API (heavy scripting) for something like this. I developed a ...

While I don't think you can do it with footage like AE is, you can certainly ease keyframes via the keygraph editor. I think maybe version 8 or 8.5 added bezier handles that you can drag on your own rather than number based easing. Simply select the keyframe, then the easing method will open up and you ...

I'm sure it can be done in scripting somehow, but I know it can certainly be done in visual logic. You can use the Length property node fed into a greater/less than node and run that into an input selector. Then you can just use your two different word wrap settings as needed. If you are in version 9, ...

Yeah that might make sense. Datalinq has a specific JSON and XML source for local files. So the dynamic URL wouldn't help unless you had two different servers to ping (like a staging and a production server or something). I've never used a local file before in the RSS/HTTP source, just the hardcoded ...

Not familiar as much with the switcher side, but our TD has set up a system of masks when it comes to locators or OTS templates. This way you can keep the layer online in the frame buffer but just mask out the section it lives in. This of course could be much trickier depending on how your graphics package ...

RSS/HTTP datalinq sources have a dynamic refresh option based on a datalinq key. But I imagine you would still need build some visual logic trees to drive that. I'm no systems architect or backend engineer, but I would think that while using Xpression to solve this is a novel approach, you'd want ...

I believe the lines object is new with Version 9, this could be something to reach out to the support team about. I myself have not used it yet. But briefly looking through the SDK though, I think the offending line might be the last one. Line1List is already a pointlist object, and PointList isn't ...

Of course, happy to help. Several years ago the great Andrew Sampson had a tutorial with a nice little tip in it when it came to setting up datalinq items. The tip was that when it comes to something that's going to be using a mullti-item list, always select the second item in your dataset that ...

You're using a script, yes? In our experience we see this kind of instability when there's a bad line(s) of a script, especially if it's on the OnRender event. I would maybe start by commenting out lines of code until you find the offending one. #XPression

Are you suggesting that when you add a tweet on the Inception side (I'm assuming Inception Social?) it automatically adds a new take item into your sequencer (I'm assuming you are in regular Flex?) If that's a thing, I'd love to know how that's possible! That said though, looking at your datalinq ...

I'm not familiar with using dashboard or using dashboard to manage data, but if you see values are being changed on the dashboard side but when you open the actual Data.XML file those attributes aren't reflecting the new data, it suggests to me that changes aren't being committed. If you ARE seeing ...

Looking to see if anyone has any experience with pulling metadata from streamline assets into Xpression templates. Downloading and testing a streamline asset in Xpression doesn't have any metadata show up via the metadata selector.

A few things: Is this the entire script? in my experience when using API texture shaders you generally need a Draw method in order for it to show up in the engine. I'm not seeing that in your script. Additionally, we use an xpPointsList instead of an xpLinesObject, I'm not familiar with that object so ...

I think I follow correctly, sounds like you have what you need in regards to pulling in your futures from DL Source 5, what I'm having trouble understanding is the use of 4 other datalinqs, especially if they all contain the same amount of data. Maybe you have something else going on under the hood, ...
