Looking to set up a little Layer Object warning trigger in the event an irregular material is put onto a quad that isn't meant for it. Is there any way to detect the native size of a material via a script or Vlogic and trigger the visibility of the Layer Object that houses the warning message?

I think you could achieve this best by setting up some Visual Logic to choose/set the visibility of those XXX, YYY and ZZZ elements. So that would be 1 scene with a 3 groups of objects for your needs (or as many as you wish). Then in Visual Logic you could use a String Compare to toggle that visibility ...

What does your visual logic look like currently that you're having the issue with trying to center it? The thing that sticks out to me is why you may need any sort of logic to vertically align it, is something happening to the quad that changes its dimensions that you'd need to dynamically center ...

Scripting certainly could do this, I at one point had a simple script that did this but there was only greater than/less than 0 conditional but I don't know which project it's hiding in or if I even have it anymore. But it would just be a matter of building out more If statements. With Visual ...

The best method to do this effectively would be by running a script on the quad and setting up your conditionals that way, but the visual logic is doable but you're going to end up with a relatively large VL tree. For starters I would duplicate the Quad in question so there are a total of 3. Quad_Pos, ...

So we've just installed a new version of Xpression in our new studio. Normally the Datalinq Manager icon shows in the tray above the sequencer but this particular instance has it greyed out. The Datalinq client is running. The project was a package unpacked from Xpression 6, would that matter?

I'm familiar with using datalinq keys to search attributes within an XML document/RSS feed. But I was wondering if it's possible to check against two attributes at once. For instance this: Column: Element\Child Row: Data becomes: Column:Element ...

Yep was just about to add that a little more tooling around and I arrived in the same place. Thanks for the help Brian. text = Replace(text, "%", "") if cDbl(text) >= "0" then text = "(ChangePos)" & "+" & FormatNumber(Text, 2) & "%" else text = "(ChangeNeg)" & FormatNumber(Text, 2) ...

I'm trying to do something similar to this. I've got a Datalinq source that is returning stock changes as a percentage, but the percentage will sometimes be returned to a 3rd or 4th decimal place. I only ever want the first two decimals (without rounding preferably) as I have no room for so many ...

I'm away from the machine right now, but it sounds like something you can achieve to some degree in Visual Logic. You can connect the texture coords from the ParentQuad and connect it directly to the Position.X of your ChildQuad, however you'll probably need to do some serious offsetting as the step ...

Here's a script applied to a text object that we use for financials/stocks: OnSetText dim number as xpTextObject scene.getObjectByName("change", number) if cDbl(text) >= "0" then text = "(ChangeGreen)" & "+" & text else text = "(ChangeRed)" & text ...
